Course Information

We have Learning Guides available in Dutch and German. Please reach out to service@competence.org

If you cannot log into the Learning Hub, please contact service@competence.org. Your account will be reset and a new password will be sent.

You can change the language in the learning hub at the top of the start page.

The Co-Active coaching philosophy holds that people are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole—completely capable of finding their own answers to whatever challenges they face. The job of a Co-Active coach is to ask powerful questions. It is also to listen and empower—rather than instruct or advise—to elicit the skills and creativity a client already possesses.

Co-Active programs are not theoretical; they engage the learner to actually experience what it’s like to be a coach by participating in experiential group activities, immediately applying your newly learned skills. We call this kind of instruction “contextually based, experientially driven learning,” resulting in transformative learning. (On average, experiential learning has about 80% retention vs. a traditional classroom setting, which provides about 25% retention).
Additionally, Co-Active is ICF accredited and has a very active and supportive alumni network for continual support during and after your training.

The Co-Active modules must be taken in the order: Fundamentals, Fulfillment, Balance, Process, and Synergy.

The only preparation necessary for Co-Active Fundamentals is to schedule in a 'client' for a coaching-conversation that takes place after the training on the 2nd day (in-person) or 3rd day (4-day virtual course). This gives you the opportunity to practice what you have learned in the preceding days, outwith the group. The client should be someone in your network, but not someone you are very close to. This conversation should take about 30 to 60 minutes and can be done either face-to-face, by phone or online. The content of the coaching-conversation stays private between you and your client. You do not need to share this with anyone. The next day you will discuss in small groups your experience of the coaching conversation.

Approximately one week after registration, you can access the Learning Hub at https://get.coactive.com/login. The login details can be found in your enrollment letter. The Learning Hub is designed to support what you have learned during the course and to provide you with tools and resources to further your development as a coach.

For Fundamentals and Intermediate the study time investment is the training itself plus one coaching conversation during the modules in one of the evenings after the training day. There is no homework in between the modules. The modules are focused on experiential learning and there is no mandatory reading material outwith the training days. We do advise you to apply the skills you have learned in between modules as much as possible as this greatly helps your growth as a Co-Active coach.

You may only miss a maximum of 1 hour in the Fundamentals module and each Intermediate module.

The 10% combi-discount is only valid if you register for both Fundamentals and Intermediate before the Fundamentals start date. However, we do offer a satisfaction guarantee: Should the Fundamentals not turn out as you expected and you do not want to continue with Intermediate afterwards, please send us an email explaining why within 7 days of the end of the Fundamentals. We will then cancel your Intermediate and refund your Intermediate payment.

The Co-Active modules must be taken in the order: Fundamentals, Fulfillment, Balance, Process, Synergy.

After Fundamentals you can choose to follow a full Intermediate training with set dates for the 4 modules.

If you prefer more flexibility, you can follow the Intermediate modularly. In other words, you can choose to do each of the four modules when it suits you (as long as you do them in the order Fulfilment–Balance-Process-Synergy).

Registration and Enrollment

You can make one swap free of charge (up to two modules) to another cohort as long as this is requested at least 2 weeks prior to the start date of your original course module. If more flexibility is required, you can choose to book each module separately. Bear in mind the modules need to be taken in the order Fulfilment - Balance - Process - Synergy. Please email info@competence.org to explore the possibilities.

There are no prerequisites for the Fundamentals program. However, to follow the Intermediate program, you need to have completed the Fundamentals training.

Invoicing

Separate invoices for Fundamentals and Intermediate will be sent from Competence. The CPCC Certification program is run by the License holder CTI in the US. You will therefore receive a separate invoice for CPCC from CTI.

Trainers and Assistants

Every CTI trainer has completed the Fundamentals, Intermediate and Co-Active Professional Certification Program. Once the rigorous application and audition process has been completed, a 6-month series of advanced coaching and a leadership practicum must also have been passed, while maintaining an active coaching practice. Each module will be co-facilitated by two leaders and supported by two assistants.

You can be an assistant in any module that you have already completed. To apply, please send an e-mail to scheduling@competence.org. Please state your name in the e-mail, in which modules you would like to assist and in which location (or online) and language.

Certification and Accreditation

To qualify for the certification program, all 5 core courses in the coaching training curriculum need to be completed (Fundamentals, Fulfilment, Balance, Process and Synergy).

You can apply for certification when you have completed the Process module. To do this, you need to apply to CTI directly. When 9 participants have registered, the certification cohort will begin in the following month.

Co-Active certification is offered in English, Dutch and German. All online sessions will be in Dutch/German, all written work will remain in English. Please apply directly to CTI for certification and mention in your registration process if you would like to take part in the next Dutch or German Certification pod.

It is advised to start within one year after the Synergy module, just so that you are going into the program with reasonably fresh knowledge of the courses you have completed. Please contact CTI directly if you are in doubt.

Yes, the Co-Active Fundamentals and Intermediate training are ICF certified.
